Stranger

Amanda and I had to drop off our friend Hillary on Friday to do community service at the VFW. The buildin was very small and dark. On the inside was a bunch of old men sitting around the bar drinking beers watching Everybody loves Raymond. Amanda and I sat at the bar with the old men to eat our lunch while Hillary was in the back doing dishes. The old man sitting next to me looked lonely, so I decided to start a conversation. The conversation with the man was not long, but just a friendly hello to him and asking him how his day was going pretty much made the old mans day.

Second Life

My experience with second life was very interesting to say the least. I also found it to be a bit creepy because everything seemed so real, minus the whole flying thing. I didn’t get a chance to change the appearance of my girl so I was walking around with a black beanie on and a white tank top, I kind of felt like a robber or a homeless person. When I first got onto second life I was not sure how to work it because unlike facebook, myspace or any other social network there were no set out instructions on what to do to get started. The first thing I did when I got on was try to find Professor Bock at the PSU main campus and just doing that was confusing at first. After I found Professor Bock on the campus, I then tried to walk around and fly. I started to use the gestures by waving hey and shrugging. I didn’t walk around and explore as much as I would have liked to because I didn’t have much time, but next time I hope to get on there and explore on second life more and get use to walking around normally and hopefully change my clothes. I also plan to change my clothes so I can look more like myself and not a robber.

This article talks about how Facebook has made changes to their privacy settings and has left many users unsatisfied and scared. They violated the trust of hundreds of millions of users, putting many of them at risk where they had felt safe before, and by ruining that trust in the first major social network online, the next generation of online social network user data is put at risk.Facebook is the first online system that has allowed us to publish our most personal interest online for the whole world to see. Though we know that what we put up there is no longer private for only our friends to see, we still keep posting new information daily.
